The National Organization for Women and organizations like it recently came up in arms because Focus on the Family bought a commercial during the Super Bowl, supporting the right of women everywhere to put children up for adoption. This is where the word "choice" comes in.
So often people who support abortion like to call themselves "pro-choice." Well, isn't adoption a choice? So my question to the pro-choice ladies of NOW: Why the riff about adoption? It's a choice, isn't it?
The truth is that people who call themselves pro-choice often mean abortion is the only choice. According to Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life, an estimated 12,000 unborn children died in Minnesota last year -- including 600 in Duluth -- because of abortion. What kind of freedom is that?
