As a student, I am scared to hear the outcome of this election. I am scared because my future is on the ballot. My education and the education of my peers is the greatest investment our nation can make. That investment is the one necessary for 99 percent of the population to achieve the American Dream.

U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan's budget, which has received support from Mitt Romney and U.S. Rep. Chip Cravaack, would cut $5.3 trillion from the already underfunded education budget. This would increase already huge class sizes, increase already high dropout rates and lower education standards that already are far behind the standards of the rest of the developed world. Funding for Pell Grants, which are necessary for many to finance an expensive college education, would be cut by $50 billion over 10 years, according to reports.

And it appears to me all of these painful budget cuts are to finance tax cuts for the super wealthy (like Romney and Cravaack) who do not even need them.

This November, vote for students and for the future of this country -- not for the end of it. Vote for President Barack Obama and future U.S. Rep. Rick Nolan.
