State Rep. Tom Huntley of Duluth knows the target set by DFL leaders for the health and human services budget is too low and that cuts of $150 million won't be easy ("Health funding cuts surprise Minnesota lawmakers," March 22).
Huntley's committee has taken thoughtful testimony on the need for more school-linked mental-health programs and projects that would provide intensive services and treatment to young people experiencing their first psychotic episodes. I hope he can convince leaders to change the number now proposed for cuts. We in Minnesota have waited too long to fix the mental-health system, and it cannot withstand further cuts.
