I just read the May 29 letter, "Bissonette subjected to his own 'stations of the cross,' " and I, too, have been sitting back and watching the situation at St. James School and reading the comments in the News Tribune and at duluthnewstribune.com.
As a St. James parishioner, I felt my privacy was violated when a parish mailing list was used to send me and others a flier alerting us to the "injustice." My address was used without my permission. And where did the postage come from for all those fliers that were sent out? I asked the Rev. Jim Bissonette if I could use the parish's -- not the school's -- mailing list to send out fliers from my own business. He said absolutely no. Well. Who paid for the mailing of those fliers? The school? The church? Principal Sharon Pristash herself? I have to pay for any personal mailings I do for myself or my business.
I am not against Pristash or against Bissonette. I am for St. James' parishioners who are not only picking up the entire financial tab for everything that goes on but also are being made to look foolish in the eyes of the public. When all of this is said and done, Pristash will be gone, but the stigma and painful memories will linger throughout the parish members and the school parents for a long, long time.
So my prayers are for us members of St. James Parish Church. I think there are plenty of people already praying for the school.
