I have known Second District City Councilor Joel Sipress for nearly 20 years, and I have worked with him on many political campaigns and local initiatives. I have always been impressed by his understanding of how government works as well as his ability to identify problems and find ways to remove roadblocks that stand in the way of solving those problems. And I have no doubt he truly enjoys the work he does as a councilor.

One of my main interests is the preservation of Duluth's greenspaces, and I know that Sipress understands the importance of our parks. He spent two years as the City Council's liaison to the Parks and Recreation Commission. And shortly after becoming a city councilor, he brought together people from opposing viewpoints to develop a plan to complete the Lakewalk near Water Street. He also has worked with neighbors and city staff to implement a vegetation management plan for Skyline Parkway and to address the infestation of the emerald ash borer.

Joel Sipress is an outstanding advocate and leader for all of Duluth, and we need him on the City Council. Please vote for Joel Sipress on Nov. 7.
