Bernie Sanders has been serving the public good for more than 30 years, first as mayor of Burlington, Vt., then as Vermont’s representative in Congress, and then as senator. Throughout he has earned tremendous support because he truly acts in the best interests of those who elected him. He takes the work of legislating seriously and with unwavering integrity. He educates constituents about issues and the workings of government. He consistently works to give voice to and represent the interests of working-class people.
The mass media is part of the same “corporate interest” that helps propel the political and economic establishment, which doesn’t serve the interests of the average person. Therefore, it can be hard to learn the truth about Sanders from the mass media. You have to look deeper. I learned a lot when I read his book, “Outsider in the White House.”
Sanders has the capacity to connect with many people who otherwise have been disengaged from the potential power they could have if they were to act together in their own best interests.
It is time to recognize that Bernie Sanders is the candidate of the people, for the people and by the people.
