Jennifer Schultz, a health care economist at the University of Minnesota Duluth and the current District 7A Minnesota House representative, is running for re-election this year. District 7A is composed of roughly the eastern half of Duluth. Schultz has been in office for only two years and already has proven to be an energetic, honest, articulate and accessible legislator for 7A.
Duluth is a center for health care in the region, and it’s vitally important we have a strong voice on health care in state government.
Gov. Mark Dayton created a Health Care Finance Task Force in 2015 to find ways to improve health care for Minnesotans. Schultz was one of three representatives chosen by House leadership to serve on this task force. Task force members endeavored to “develop high value, meaningful and practical recommendations to the governor and Legislature with regard to reforming Minnesota’s health care delivery system.” They produced 33 recommendations. The Republican-controlled House adopted none of them. Health care reform is too important to ignore. Our legislators’ time and the public’s money are too dear to waste.
It is crucial to re-elect Jennifer Schultz and many more Democrats like her this year.
