I want to point out that we all have made mistakes in our earlier lives and that no one is perfect.
The conservative right is attempting to blow all out of proportion Democratic congressional candidate Joe Radinovich's prior driving record. He admitted his past mistakes and has moved on. Minor traffic offenses are not an indicator of lawlessness. Minor traffic tickets from 10 years ago are just not relevant ("Radinovich addresses tickets," Aug. 24).
But conservative talk show hosts just love to make it sound like he is a lifelong criminal when that simply is not the truth. Just because he had a few parking tickets, for example, does not in any way mean he cannot or does not follow the law.
I also would like to point out that the charge for possession of drug paraphernalia against Radinovich was dismissed. He was never prosecuted on that charge. It's like it never happened in the eyes of the law ("Radinovich admits dismissed pot-related charge," Sept. 13).
It's time to stop bashing each other and campaign on the issues of importance to area voters.
