Reader's view: Protect gun rights from Clinton and fellow travelers

While there will be a lot of important ramifications resulting from the upcoming election, none is more important than preserving our liberty. Without liberty, all is lost.
Some weeks ago, Chelsea Clinton, while speaking to a group, said that her mother would stand up to the NRA. That was about the sickest statement I have ever heard. The NRA is staunchly pro-American, pro-liberty and pro-U.S. Constitution as our Founders envisioned it. And the notoriously corrupt Hillary Clinton, the Democrats’ nominee for president, is against it?
Some time ago, Australia instituted a mandatory firearm buyback program and destroyed the seized firearms. Clinton is on record as saying this program is something that should be looked at. Our Second Amendment was instituted for a reason and must be protected from Clinton and her Democratic fellow travelers, many of whom, unfortunately, echo her sentiments on this subject.
While Republican Donald Trump is surely not a perfect candidate (if there ever existed such a thing), keep in mind that countless patriots have shed blood and given lives to protect our precious liberty. To go into the voting booth and simply throw liberty away would be akin to insanity.
