A letter Dec. 7, “Liberals have no respect for conservative viewpoints,” said, “Liberals and progressives are some of the most intolerant people I have met.”
How can anyone claiming to hold Christian beliefs vote for a candidate for president of the United States like Donald Trump who vowed that his first act would be repealing the Affordable Care Act? Without a replacement, 20 million people who cannot afford health care without government help stand to be left without health care. That is something a Pontius Pilate or a Judas would do, not a Christian.
The letter quoted the Bible. I like these quotes from the Bible: “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.” And, “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” These passages seem to represent the Republican Party leadership.
After watching President-elect Trump on the campaign and hearing some of the things that came out of his mouth, I can’t believe any Christian could have voted for him.
When I saw Trump, during one of his rants, leading the crowd in, “Lock her up!” I imagined it was probably similar to the day Jesus was nailed to the cross. Among Jesus’ final words were, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.”
Being a Christian and voting for a man with immense wealth, as Trump has, and taking steps that could lead to the loss of health care for 20 million people who can’t afford it would be totally unbelievable.
