Reader's view: Pro-Obama letter missed facts on bin Laden's death, aftermath

The writer of the May 7 letter, "GOP shouldn't criticize Obama on bin Laden," should have checked his facts before submitting such a paltry attack on Mitt Romney.

The writer of the May 7 letter, "GOP shouldn't criticize Obama on bin Laden," should have checked his facts before submitting such a paltry attack on Mitt Romney.

President Obama told the country, after ordering the nighttime raid on bin Laden's compound, he would not "spike the football" on this accomplishment. Fast forward a year and he's used this to make an attack on Romney in a campaign video, saying Romney wouldn't have ordered the raid.

What a shameful, desperate ploy by Obama. Any president in that position, save for President Clinton, twice, would have signed off on the mission. Romney's statement was in response to the president's baseless attack and he has said since that he would have given the green light. Despite the writer's blatantly false accusations, Romney did commend, on the anniversary of bin Laden's death last week, Obama's decision to take out bin Laden.

It's no shock Obama would campaign on this, as he cannot run on his failed trillion-dollar stimulus or soon-to-be-marked-unconstitutional Obamacare.

If the writer doesn't want bin Laden's death to be used as campaign material, he should direct his bellyaching toward the Obama White House instead of spreading myth in the local newspaper.
