I love living in Northeastern Minnesota. I love its lakes, rivers, and clean air. However, I am disappointed that many of our businesses and leaders are supporting new legislation that has the potential to put Minnesota's clean air and clean water in danger. This session, proposals have been introduced at the Capitol to make it easier for businesses to make environmental changes without oversight or regard for keeping our clean air and clean water intact. These are now included in the Environment and Finance Omnibus Bill.
This legislative session, many members of the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce - including 3M, Medtronic, Hormel, U.S. Bank, General Mills and Target, brands known all over the world - are supporting this legislation through their chamber memberships and positions of leadership. It is shocking that the chamber supports this legislation. This is a great disappointment that endangers the quality of outdoor life Minnesotans expect. I expect more from our trusted business leaders and industry-leading brands.
Fortunately, you can help. Contact the Minnesota chamber and ask it to stop defending polluters. Furthermore, reach out to Minnesota chamber businesses and let them know you want them to publicly decry this new legislation.
Minnesotans love their lakes, trails and picturesque outdoors as much as their state's world-famous businesses and brands. After all, these places are the playgrounds for Minnesotans who want to canoe, sail, camp, vacation and swim. Let our legislative leaders know this legislation should be stopped to keep Minnesota businesses and our environment strong.
