"He's going to let the big banks once again write their own rules -- unchain Wall Street. They're going to put y'all back in chains." That's what Vice President Joe Biden recently said of presidential candidate Mitt Romney.
Forget for a moment it's an untrue statement about Romney's stance on the country's financial sector. And never mind the demeaning use of "y'all" to a largely Southern, African-American audience. What Americans should take away most from that statement is that the president has made it clear he will use a strategy of gutter politics in his attempt to be re-elected. Sadly, it might be his only strategy due to the lack of a positive record on which to run.
Whether it's his promise to cut the deficit in half, reduce the unemployment rate or strengthen the middle class, the president has failed every step of the way. It will be interesting to watch the Romney/Ryan ticket offer solutions to important problems facing our country while the Obama campaign's response will be to accuse Romney of wanting to bring back slavery. Childish politics might work in Chicago; but it won't work for America.
