Many supporters of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump say they support him because he is a brilliant businessman. Trump started out in business in 1976 with a $200 million stake, most of it from his father. In the time since then, he has parlayed that amount into a purported $4.5 billion. (We don’t know for sure because he won’t release his income tax forms.) Had he simply invested the $200 million in an indexed fund and reinvested the dividends, he’d be worth $12 billion today. Still think he’s a brilliant businessman? If you do, you’re fired!
The current, negative, Republican-supporting, direct-mail campaign deriding U.S. Rep. Rick Nolan for voting against funding for the military and veterans is totally misleading. Nolan did vote against a draft of that bill because he found it inadequate. He worked to improve the bill so it included adequate funding, got the improvements made, and then voted for that bill in its final improved form. Don’t be misled by Republican misinformation about Nolan. He’s a great supporter of our military and veterans. Just check his record and disregard the noise created by the Republicans.
