I've been reading the views of letter writers who will vote to alter the state constitution to ban gay marriage. It appears they are guided by how they interpret the teachings of the Bible or by following tradition.
The foundation of our country is equal rights for everybody. No matter what your personal preference is, we are all entitled to marry the person we love. Biblical interpretations or traditions shouldn't be a reason to deny rights to others.
Do we really want to deny equal rights to people who might be family members, friends, co-workers or neighbors? I've always been proud to be from Minnesota. Let's show the rest of the country what a progressive and caring state we live in by voting "no" on Nov. 6.
