Proposals described in the Feb. 17 article, “Road reconstruction may lead to changes at Duluth park,” should be carefully thought out. Even though I am all for parks and green spaces, I don’t believe it is the right choice to spend additional taxpayers’ money here. This intersection absorbs a lot of traffic, and more should be done to keep the traffic flowing rather than slow it down to avoid congestion.
In addition, because of the numerous rentals in this area due to landlords remodeling homes into multi-unit dwellings, parking is at a premium. The removal of 20th Avenue East for parking and replacing it with a park would result in the loss of six parking spots in an already crowded area.
It’s easy to make decisions when it does not adversely affect your way of life.
