Like thousands of other Northlanders, I was elated to see the news on Jayme Closs's discovery in Gordon ("Jayme Closs found alive," Jan. 11).

My old newspaper instincts were on high alert after reading the article. But then there was a feeling of dismay looking at the article's placement on the front page. It barely peeked over the fold.

The articles about retiring Judge Mark Munger and the Virginia police officer being found justified following a shooting could have been resized and repositioned to give Jayme's article center stage with a nice banner headline.

I hope the press run was increased for the the obvious additional projected dealer and single-copy sales resulting from this explosive story.

These are just the musings of a veteran advertising and marketing guy sitting on the sidelines, both cheering or booing depending on the play calls.
