Reader's view: Minnesota wise to require recount of close election

I disagreed with the letter writer who said Al Franken was ruining our state's clean-election reputation ("Franken ruining state's clean-election reputation," Dec. 29). I am proud our state of Minnesota requires a recount when vote totals are close.

I disagreed with the letter writer who said Al Franken was ruining our state's clean-election reputation ("Franken ruining state's clean-election reputation," Dec. 29). I am proud our state of Minnesota requires a recount when vote totals are close. Should the state have listened to Franken's opponent, Norm Coleman, and just given Coleman the election? Heck no! I don't care how long it takes. Count every vote!

Just think -- if the state of Florida would have allowed the recount in the 2000 presidential election (instead of having the Supreme Court decide who would be president) we wouldn't have all of the death, destruction, corruption and thievery the Bush-Cheney administration brought, as well as to Iraq and Afghanistan.
