In the Sept. 1 letter, "Marriage is about much more than raising children," the writers wondered what certain couples and individuals would think of Frank Schubert's comment about marriage being created by God to bring women and men together for the sake of raising children. Because this statement was so profound, we have to think outside the box. Let's look at these different scenarios. First, a child is conceived from the result of a one-night stand. Second, one man fathers 10 children with 10 women. Third, a child is conceived after a man and woman become married. All of these situations were relationships involving children. The first two were for self; they were not about raising children. The third was for other, which is all about raising children.
I am voting "yes" for the marriage amendment.
