Reader's view: Man’s achievements don’t compare to faith in God

Attention has been drawn to the recent movie, "Son of God," another production portraying the suffering of Christ, described as the most brutal agony that would seem to cause death to any normal human being before ever getting nailed to the cross.

I am a Christian and have viewed every other epic life of Christ except this one. The point is to bring home to the viewer the cost for this Savior’s taking our place for the redemption of our sins, requisite to eternal life in heaven.
This simple biblical truth has been interpreted from thousands of pulpits in many different ways and yet rejected by so many. This is a further suffering of my precious Savior to view this world at dispute with one another over salvation.
Jesus knew there would be war after war with lasting peace sought in vain, injustice, lost morals, homes broken, human values diminished, lives torn asunder by self-deception, misery and sorrow. He knew they’d be inevitable companions to a world that seeks a better way.
Regardless of man’s great achievements to make life better, they don’t compare to a true faith in God’s promise. Heaven would rejoice and the world would find peace if we would only love the Son of God and love one another as He loves us.
