I read with interest the Dec. 23 story about the special services set aside in St. Paul's Episcopal Church for those who have suffered loss and are experiencing loneliness and sorrow at this time of the year ("'Blue' service focuses on grief"). I think it is commendable to minister to the needs of the hurting not only in supplying the essentials of life such as bread and apparel in these difficult days, but also bearing one another's burdens!

However, I do not want to lose sight of the message that Christmas brings to us in the incarnation of Christ. The angelic message was: "Fear not, for I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a savior, which is Christ the lord."

The great joy of the incarnation, "Immanuel, God with us," will help to mitigate any burdens we bear. This message, thankfully, does not diminish with the passing of time, is aimed at fulfilling the needs of the human heart and continues to bless us.

May I echo the heavenly host praising God and say, "Glory to God in the highest and on Earth peace, good will toward men."
