In the heat of an argument, the seasonal trump card of our day is, "Jesus is the reason for the season." With these words we try to regain even a little bit of what has been lost. We try to take the focus off "me, me, me," which seems to permeate the holiday. There is some truth in these words.

Christmas isn't primarily about you or me. It's about Jesus and what God does for us through him. The sins that haunt us, the regrets, the losses, the pain we inflict by our actions and deeds: All these and more would forever separate us from God. Yet God in his grace and mercy knew you before the beginning of time and determined to send his son to be our savior from sin.

Writing to the church at Corinth, the apostle Paul said, "For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified." How could Paul say such a thing? Because in faith he knew it's all about Jesus. What he has done for others he can do for you. It's all about what he has done.
