Nellie Bird was a pillar of the community!
A long-standing local business owner passes on and what is written? Hardly a word.
I am absolutely appalled that a pillar of our community is no longer with us and nothing was written about her life, the bar she owned, all the things she accomplished or the money she donated to support the community other than a short obituary pertaining only the basic information,
Nellie Bird had a heart of gold, a work ethic that was unrivaled and a loyalty that most people don't even understand the meaning of anymore. Yet articles published recently have been about controversial commercials, who is in trouble with law enforcement and other topics that repeat themselves with no new information than what had been in previous blurbs.
So the point here is: Be an upstanding and giving citizen who makes generous contributions to the community and when you go you get nothing. Hardly a word. And we wonder why our kids today no longer have any loyalty, respect or pride in their community. I wonder where they are learning to disengage themselves and ignore simple decency.
