Reader's view: Krug will be an effective At Large city councilor

I'm writing in support of Linda Krug for Duluth City Council At Large.

I believe Krug will be a dedicated and effective city councilor, and I'm pleased that she is running for local office.

The decision to run for City Council represents a significant commitment. The number of local politicians who are currently running unopposed demonstrates this. I respect Krug's willingness to serve the city.

I also value her background. Krug has worked as an educator at the University of Minnesota Duluth, as dean of its College of Liberal Arts, and as the faculty union president. In addition, she recently helped complete the important work of the city's Tourism Tax Task Force and has been appointed by Gov. Mark Dayton to serve on Minnesota's Commission on Judicial Selection.

What I admire her most for is her approach to people. Krug is consistently respectful, thoughtful and kind.

I'm looking forward to voting for Krug in the Sept. 13 primary. She is a proven leader and will serve Duluthians well.
