I am not one to write letters to the newspaper, but I felt compelled to respond to a letter in the paper regarding my son, 4th District City Council candidate Garry Krause (Reader's View: "Krause makes poor assumptions on signs," Oct. 27). The letter writer suggested Garry placed lawn signs in yards without permission and that his signs were not stolen. While I know Garry will not respond, I feel compelled to set the record straight.
Garry cares about Duluth's residents and personally visits them at their homes. He visits people to learn of their concerns so he can better represent them. For each of the almost 1,000 signs he placed in the 4th District, he recorded the name and address of the individual who gave permission. Not one sign was put up without permission. If the letter writer did not know which tenant put a sign up, Garry could have been called. Garry informed me he is unaware of tenants who have signs in their garage. Perhaps the tenant is afraid to be honest with the landlord?
Garry had close to 200 signs stolen. About 25 to 30 lawn signs were planted under his family's bedroom windows. Before writing letters, individuals should get their information correct.
