I live near the Willard Munger State Trail and love - but didn't realize how lucky I was until I found myself unable to walk more than a block.

Over the last 10 years I have had multiple foot and back surgeries and have been limited to very short walks followed by a lot of pain. I bought a three-wheel bike last year and have been able to ride the paved trails near my house.

Pain and disability can really make you feel captive, but when I ride I feel free again. I am thankful to all those who created the paved trail system in Duluth. I urge them to keep folks with handicaps in mind when building new trails.

Although I don't usually like pavement, it has allowed me to feel so much better to ride the trails, physically and mentally.
