Reader's View: Kavanaugh innocent until proven guilty

In response to the Sept. 25 article, "Duluth crowd opposes Kavanaugh's nomination," all I can say is that if anyone is ever in a similar circumstance of someone accusing them of an offense, they would be innocent until proven guilty.

Frankly, I am appalled anyone would protest Brett Kavanaugh's Supreme Court nomination without granting him the same rights granted to all citizens. Instead, some have become both his judge and jury and in doing so have tainted his career, harmed his family, and ruined his life. They should all be ashamed.

The #MeToo movement has become the go-to for all women alleging abuse - the key work here is "alleging."

As a former admirer of U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., I also felt compelled to email her to say how ashamed I was that she would choose to ruin a man's reputation for political gain.

It doesn't matter where anyone is on the issues of President Donald Trump, abortion, conservative views, etc., Kavanaugh should have been treated with respect - the same respect we should offer to each other - until he no longer deserved it.

The allegations against him have yet to be preven. Those protesting his nomination should be embarrassed. Shame on them all.
