We support Duluth School Board member Art Johnston (ā€œBoard to investigate Johnston,ā€ June 11).
Johnston demonstrates what a School Board member should do. He researches the issues. He speaks up for common sense, especially in the area of spending, budgets and taxes. And, most importantly, he represents his constituents, which is why they re-elected him last fall.
Apparently the Duluth School Board and administration have no shame. They want Johnston off the board, it seems, probably because he raises questions they don’t want to answer and because he disagrees with other members. So they will go to any length to see him removed, it seems. I believe they’d make bogus accusations and try to get at him by influencing his partner’s position in the district. It’s sick. That’s all there is to it.
We can have all the great teachers, students and programs in the world, but this district will not rise above the rest with a board and administration that operates like this.
I thank Johnston for being on the School Board in Duluth. He is doing a great job, and we appreciate it.
