Reader's view: Jesus has the answer for racial harmony

On Feb. 2, the News Tribune published two very fine letters on the Un-Fair Campaign and on dealing with racism in Duluth ("Racism neither new nor limited to one group" and, "To end racism, treat others as you wish to be treated").

As often happens when politicians get into the action, things go from bad to worse. In this particular case racial hatred against whites has been roused in a foolish effort to reduce racism against blacks.

Jesus gave us the right answer in one simple sentence, and I found the two letters in harmony with the directive. Jesus said, "Love your neighbor as yourself." Furthermore, he showed all of us how to do so. "He gave Himself upon the cross for us men and our salvation."

If we are smart enough to take Jesus seriously we will not need any of the inane programs drawn up in City Hall or in Washington, D.C.
