Most voters, no matter their party affiliation, are sick of the my-way-or-the-highway approach that now keeps our legislators from getting anything done. When I go to the polls, I want to vote for someone who knows how to get along with others, even in disagreement.

For more than a decade, I've observed Lorrie Janatopoulos at the Arrowhead Economic Opportunity Agency, working to improve Iron Rangers' access to jobs, affordable housing, senior services and early-childhood education.

I work for AEOA's Head Start program. But even if I hadn't met or worked with Janatopoulos, she would get my vote for District 6B state representative solely because of her many years of experience with and thorough knowledge of the issues.

Because I've seen her in action (and even had a few disagreements with her over the years), I know she also has a special ability to listen, to consider others' opinions and to gain their respect. She has a great sense of humor, and her level-headed approach will make her a state representative who not only knows what she's talking about but can maintain positive relationships needed to get her message across with legislators on both sides of the aisle.
