It is amazing that in this era of mass communication there are people who still confuse weather with climate change or global warming. Whether it be temperature, hurricanes, snowstorms, rain, etc., these are local conditions described as "weather" for your particular area. They fluctuate from day to day and from year to year. Any one local fluctuation in temperature or snowfall does not in itself determine global warming. Global warming or climate change comes from the mass collection of weather data and other conditions worldwide. From those who collect and interpret this data, the climate, to the dismay of the uninformed, is warming.
Midterm elections are not far off, and once again voters are going to be asked to make choices. Politicians once again will come forth with their usual rhetoric to garnish your vote. When will voters dismiss the rhetoric and concentrate on the actual deeds performed by the candidates and political parties? Nationwide, the Republican Party consistently has demonstrated a pattern of deception between their words and their deeds. One only has to look at their roadblocks to voter registration, women's free choice and health care for all, to name a few of the very many.
America has lived with discrimination for far too long. Currently there are attempts to discriminate against both women and the gay community based on religious freedom. Everyone has the right to believe in whatever religion they want as long as believing in that religion does not deny others their rights. It is in this area of denying rights that shows the discrimination. Example: The Arizona state Legislature passed a law allowing businesses to deny service to any individual whose lifestyle does not agree with their religious beliefs. Are we going to allow discrimination based on religious beliefs?
