I saw the News Tribune’s endorsement for Minnesota House District 3B. I was really surprised to see the endorsement went to incumbent DFL Rep. Mary Murphy, who has been there for 40 years (Our View / Endorsement: “Murphy the most ready once again,” Oct. 11).
Yes, the district has changes, and its current boundaries have only been in place four years. Well, she has been through three redistrictings as a legislator, and it never has been an issue before.
Really shocking was watching her at the only candidate forum she’d agree to do and watching footage of her, including the interview with this newspaper. After 40 years of doing her job, it’s obvious it’s time for Murphy to step aside.
Republican challenger Tim Brandon knows the issues. He learned them fast and is able to discuss them on the spot with no need of taking time to think of where he is or what he’s doing.
Murphy may have done an adequate job representing the district, but now it’s time to “change,” and Brandon will do a great job representing all the people in his district.
Looking at who’s endorsing our current representative, I wonder who she represents. I want someone to represent me and my neighbors, not special interests.
