Reader's View: In Minnesota, be sure before shooting

I have a permit to carry; and, yes, I did agree with the concern expressed in the April 4 letter, “Reject gun bills in name of safety.”

People should have training to carry guns because if they go through the training they will realize Minnesota is a “retreat” state and not a “stand your ground” state, as the letter mentioned. That means you had better be darn sure you are in imminent danger - or you will be going to jail. Also, have plenty of evidence to back up your claim.

Either way, you pull that gun and shoot someone, be prepared to spend a great deal of money in court convincing others you were in the right.
