Regarding the bandwagon jump for a natural gas rate increase ("City asks for its own rate hike," Nov. 5, and, "City Council rejects utility rate increase," Nov. 9): This immediate past summer we were made glowing promises by the city that a gas-rate reduction could be possible because of cheaper natural gas due to a glut on the market.

What is the city paying now compared to 2008? Why were we threatened with a rate increase when natural gas is cheaper? I suggest before this comes up again, the City Council check into the current price of natural gas, what the city is paying and why any rate increase would be necessary. It's time to jump off the bandwagon.
