I was disheartened to read the News Tribune's endorsement of Karin Housley for U.S. Senate ( Our View/Endorsement: "Housley offers a bit of balance," Oct. 25). It seems to me Housley's comments regarding Michelle Obama should disqualify her from representing our state. Most Minnesotans would agree that Obama represented our nation with dignity and class and that Housley's Facebook posting was ugly and inappropriate.
Housley wrote, "Michelle is soooo far from cool. Don't we expect our First Ladies to at least stand up straight? (And my dear sister, know the proper etiquette and DO NOT TOUCH THE QUEEN!)."
In another post she wrote, "I do miss Nancy Reagan. Ronald even more. Speaking of Bedtime for Bonzo, I think even that chimp stood up straighter than Michelle. Uh-oh, someone is going to make a comment."
Uh-oh is right; Housley's racist rant spread across the country.
Let's safeguard our Minnesota-nice reputation and send Tina Smith back to the Senate. Maybe Housley should move South like Duluth native and Senate candidate Corey Stewart (" Controversy follows former Duluthian onto national political stage ," Aug. 25).
