The author of the Sept. 5 letter, "Democrats ran House, Congress under Bush," stated that, "Letter writers need to get facts straight before making false statements."
I couldn't have agreed more.
Of course, the letter writer violated her own rule by claiming the House and Congress were run by Democrats the entire time George W. Bush was president. The truth, of course, is that Republicans ran the House for all but two years of the Bush presidency and ran the Senate during four of the eight Bush years.
With all the crazy talk of Obama death panels and Kenyan birth certificates, I have come to expect such departures from reality from the right wing. What puzzled me, however, was how the News Tribune allowed such a blatant falsehood to be published. I thought it was the policy of the newspaper to edit letters for accuracy prior to publication.
