Reader's view: God is not a bigot

The writer of the Oct. 1 letter, "Christians, Muslims don't worship the same God," argued that because "his" God had a son named Jesus, and Muslims don't believe in Jesus, Christians and Muslims do not worship the same God.

Ignorance like that has caused so much of the horrid prejudice against the Muslim faith. People who think they can judge an entire faith and tell those of that faith what they believe are dangerous. Hatred like that is inexcusable, and good Christians should fight against it. To be a Christian does not mean to hate anyone who is different; bigotry makes all Christians look bad.

The letter-writer can keep "his" God and I will stick with mine. My God is not a bigot, and he is the God of the Christians, Jews and Muslims of the world.
