Reader's View: Getting harder to buy a Russia conspiracy

The media and Democrats have been pushing this Russian story for months, even though sources provide little evidence. Nevertheless, they seem to see Russia everywhere. The subject of Russia sucks up all the oxygen at news conferences.

The media and Democrats have been pushing this Russian story for months, even though sources provide little evidence. Nevertheless, they seem to see Russia everywhere. The subject of Russia sucks up all the oxygen at news conferences.

If anybody had the goods on President Donald Trump, it would have been leaked a long time ago. President Trump is living rent-free in the heads of the Democrat fabulists, and Russia is their go-to story.

With U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley pounding Russia at the United Nations, I fail to see any quid pro quo. In other words, there seems to be no this for that. If Russian President Vladimir Putin rigged the election for Trump, it looks like he is not getting his money's worth. Russia's ally, Syria, just got hammered by 59 Tomahawk missiles. This probably embarrassed the hell out of Putin.

It's hard to buy into the absurdity that Putin wanted Trump to win. Putin is a calculator, not a high-stakes gambler. Like him or not, Putin is a strategic genius who played President Barack Obama like a violin for eight years. Putin knew Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton would keep Obama's policy of appeasement and continue to reduce America's nuclear arsenal.

Why on earth would Putin want a madman like Trump in the White House? Putin would rather deal with a pacifist like Clinton or a milquetoast like Bernie Sanders who would rather turn the other cheek. Russia is a dry hole.
