I couldn't have disagreed more with the May 27 letter, "Same-sex marriage jeopardizes family structure." Does the writer really believe humans could become extinct because of the legalization of same-sex marriage? Lesbian and gay couples will most likely stay together even if marriage isn't allowed. Just because one is denied the ability to marry doesn't mean they will suddenly turn heterosexual and procreate. If we allow gay couples to marry, it doesn't mean heterosexual couples will no longer exist and babies will no longer be made that way. The argument of extinction vs. gay marriage isn't viable. There is no sufficient argument as to why gays shouldn't be allowed marriage. What is it affecting the rest of us to allow two people who are in love to make it legal?
