Reader's view: Foreign products to blame for bad economy

Was anyone surprised by the lack of U.S.-made patriotic products found at the Duluth Fourth Fest by News Tribune reporter Candace Renalls and photographer Clint Austin? ("So you celebrated the Fourth of July, but was your festive gear made here?" July 5).

Has anyone noticed how few domestic products are on store shelves? Does anybody care?

Our citizens have increasingly supported every economy but our own for decades, demonstrating a flair for missing the obvious. Those lost manufacturing jobs would be vital in supporting all aspects of our country's needs, responsibilities and independence.

Everyone has an idea for spending government money at all levels, but rarely is the issue addressed of who'll fund the funder.

Gee, what has happened to our economy? Duh!
