Reader's view: FEMA's flood relief nothing but a joke

This is classic. FEMA and flood relief are a joke. Talk, talk, talk: that's all we hear from the state and feds. Are you kidding me? Let's roll. Give these people some cake; they all deserve it now, not one or two or three or 10 years from now.

I've lived in West Duluth for 30 years. My son on 38th Avenue West, next to the river, had damage to a retaining wall. He and his wife lost a ton, including their garage and all its contents, van, furnace, washer and dryer, and water heater. He already has paid out the hind end and has put up with a ton of crap -- and he has flood insurance. FEMA is a joke, big time. He has a $4,000 deductible, and the kids might get $1,000. Yeah, hurry up and get flood insurance with FEMA. All the calls and paperwork: can we make it any harder?

This makes me sick. FEMA, state and the feds better come through and give their own people some cake. Forget the frosting and yesterday. Let's roll, people.
