I commend the News Tribune for its use of the term “white supremacists” in the Nov. 21 headline, “White supremacists confer in Washington to influence Trump,” rather than the term “alt-right.” That term, recently adopted by the National Policy Institute, a white nationalist think tank, merely serves to mask and sanitize a white-supremacist ideology.
Our community and the nation would be well-served if all media refrained from using that deceptive term.
