Reader's view: Don’t let PolyMet dictate our environment

I was happy to see the Feb. 28 article, "Potential PolyMet health effects concern Northland medical professionals," which pointed out a serious concern I have about the proposed PolyMet sulfide mine.

I was born and raised in Duluth and I have never been able to imagine myself living anywhere else but next to this gorgeous lake we have.
However, after gaining knowledge about the health effects sulfide mining could cause, I wonder if Duluth is a place to live safely. And, more importantly, is it a place where I could raise my children down the road? I truly hope we don’t let this happen to the beautiful area we have.
We can’t let PolyMet or other sulfide mining companies dictate the environment of northern Minnesota or the health and well-being of the people who live here and cherish it.
Please make your voice heard and contact Gov. Mark Dayton to tell him we care about our health and the health of our children. Oppose the PolyMet sulfide mine.
