Yes, there are horrid natural disasters as well as man-made horrors occurring daily in this world that God created in love to be our paradise. As revealed, a problem occurred when humankind disobeyed God and we found ourselves thrust outside the garden and into what now is called the real world. Bad things happen all around us in this world. Is there really a problem in being thankful when we feel fortunate to have avoided this and that calamity?

The view that God is the source of evil ignores the basic Christian tenet that ever since Eden, mankind has been subject to interference from Satan and his forces. Why this happens remains a mystery not to be necessarily thought out by me. However, as exemplified during our celebration of the resurrection at Easter, Jesus left us with the capability of somehow changing loss into victory. I believe this has been experienced by all of us religious folk.

Buying cupcakes for the needy is indeed commendable, and religions do that and even more.Religious people will continue to pray and study physics until the end of time. I pray that the writer of the April 23 letter will continue to seek truth in peace and love and in the process perhaps find the peace and love of God.
