I am writing regarding the recent town hall meeting by U.S. Rep. Chip Cravaack ("Duluth gets its wish: a town hall with Cravaack," Aug. 25).
I have written to Rep. Cravaack twice and called his office once. I have yet to receive a response. I also tried to speak with him at Grandma's restaurant when he was there for a meeting and at the town hall meeting at Duluth International Airport. He refused to speak to me at those events, also.
I am looking for employment and have been out of work since April 2010. I have a master's degree in guidance and counseling and more than 20 years of experience, but I cannot find work. I am married to a Vietnam veteran with Parkinson's disease who relies on me for assistance and support. When my unemployment runs out, we will lose our home.
I just want to be heard and find out what Cravaack plans to do about the economy for his constituents. Is this such a scary issue that I cannot get a response? One of his supporters said he heard my story and does not believe me. I ask Cravaack to meet with me, and my husband, and to just listen to us and answer our questions. Is that too much to ask of an elected official?
