A letter writer praised the "character" of the current 8th Congressional District Republican congressman for reportedly giving his first-class flight upgrades to soldiers. While a nice gesture, his votes and positions leave something to be desired.
He's no friend of seniors: He supported the Ryan budget plan, which the Congressional Budget Office says would cause increased costs, reduced access and reduced quality of health care for seniors.
He's no friend of those with pre-existing conditions: He voted to repeal the Affordable Health Care Act.
He's no friend of the environment: His votes imperil EPA regulations that reduce pollution.
He's no friend of women: His votes infringe on their right to protect their bodies and to be protected from domestic violence.

He's no friend of workers: He voted to weaken the National Labor Relations Act.
Go down the list. His votes (and those of most Republicans) consistently failed to support the less fortunate.
Join me in supporting Democratic candidates in this election: former U.S. Rep. Rick Nolan, President Obama and others at the local, state and national levels. These are people who actively support, day in and day out, the ideals on which this nation was founded.
