For the first time in many years we here in the 8th Congressional District have the opportunity to make history by electing a woman to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives. But I am supporting Tarryl Clark not because she is a woman but because I believe she is the best candidate to run and win in the general election in November.
Her time in the state Senate proved she can get things done, even in a highly partisan environment. Clark has worked the past 24 years in Northeastern and central Minnesota. Her work as an attorney for the Senior Citizens Law Project made her keenly aware of the issues facing older Americans, and she will fight to protect Social Security and Medicare. She clearly supports reproductive rights for women, and her record makes it clear she will be a strong advocate for the families and communities of this district.
On Tuesday, voters in the 8th District will have a chance to change Washington by voting in the DFL primary. That's why I'm asking you to join me in supporting Tarryl Clark on Tuesday.
