Duluth is becoming a city that isn't dog-friendly. Everyone knows you don't put your body in between two dogs that are having a disagreement. I wouldn't even try to take something away from my dog if she really wanted it.
I know of two people who had their dogs taken away from them because they were deemed dangerous. One got the dogs back, but at enormous expense, and the other, unfortunately, had the dogs put down for lack of money. Her dogs were not even 2 years old. It seems to me the policy of the city is either too strict or the woman at the shelter has been given too much power and it has gone to her head.
Dog owners, beware! It doesn't matter if your dog has been provoked or not; if it bites, you will lose it. Doesn't matter if it has all its shots; it will be put down unless, of course, you can come up with a huge amount of money in accordance with a dangerous-dog policy. Then you will have a sign slapped on your house. I think this whole dog issue has gotten way out of control.
Yes, people need to keep their dogs on a leash, and I agree that if a dog bites for no reason it should be investigated. But let's face it, people, they are animals. We love our animals and should try to confine them, but we as neighbors need to use our heads, too. My friend is heart-broken by the death of her beloved pets. I hope her neighbor is really proud of herself.
