I would like to offer a suggestion that the Duluth city flag have some yellow or a sun or something hygge, especially to represent the indentured population of Duluth who come up here for a great deal of hope and to make better lives for themselves and their families ("A better banner: Duluth seeks new city flag design, but selection process raises concern," March 2).
In fact, were I an urban planner, I would make it my utter focus to ensure that the transitory and indigent populations of Duluth - including the prison populations, the parole populations, the homeless, the mentally ill populations, the chemically dependent populations, the developmentally disabled populations, and maybe even the police department - be taken care of versus a class division that doesn't exactly lend itself to human dignity, altruism, or community survival.
