I was so disgusted with the cartoon on the Opinion page on Oct. 19.

It depicted a person holding a huge gun and wearing a jacket and helmet with "Police" on both. Editorial cartoonist Stephane Peray captioned it, " Rise of the American Warrior Cop! "

I'm sure its publication was in response to our Duluth Police Department asking for more protective equipment. Below the cartoon was a commentary by local firefighter Dave Werner with the headline, " Firefighters given gear they need; why debate over equipping police? " It was a very well-written commentary.

The editorial cartoon was too extreme, insulting, and disparaging to our Duluth Police Department.

Let's support and help our police get the help they need.
